Jonathan Bacheter

Jonathan Bacheter is an Environment Supervisor and Senior CG Artist based in France, creating environments and assets for film, television and live experiences

He was born in Pézenas, a small town in the south of France, and grew up in the region. His fascination with cinema began at the age of eight, but for a child growing up far from the big studios, working in visual effects felt like an unreachable dream

His path was anything but direct. Before turning to 3D, he worked as a home health aide supporting people with disabilities, then led a small team in IT retail. Both experiences shaped the way he works today: attention to people, calm under pressure and a strong sense of responsibility towards a team

Through hard work, resilience and many sacrifices, he eventually returned to that childhood dream and enrolled at ArtFX in Montpellier, where he earned a Master in CGI and Visual Effects. His graduation film, Time's Down, which he co-directed, was nominated at the 19th VES Awards in the student category, won the GENIE Award 2021 at the PIDS and was named Film of the Year at the Rookie Awards 2021

Over several years in the industry since, he has worked remotely for studios including Framestore, Outpost VFX, Crafty Apes, Important Looking Pirates and DUPE VFX. His credits include Thor: Love and Thunder, Moon Knight, The Last of Us, Fast X, Silo, Foundation, The Buccaneers and Fallout, as well as No Doubt's show and Lenovo Tech World at the Sphere in Las Vegas

He moved from modeling and environment work to leadership roles, as CG Lead on Fast X, then Lead Environment Artist and now Environment Supervisor. His work covers environment supervision, procedural environments, vegetation, set dressing, layout, look development, hard surface modeling and asset creation, mainly with Houdini, Solaris and USD, Maya, SpeedTree, ZBrush, Substance 3D Painter and Nuke

Alongside production, he has taught at ECV and ArtFX and served as a judge for The Rookies Awards 2026, passing on to young artists the chance he once took himself. Working today on the kind of films he once only dreamed of, he never forgets how far away that dream once seemed
