Medusa
- Year
- 2026
In this personal project, I sculpted a rough bust of Medusa, a character study that revisits the Greek myth from her side of the story rather than as the monster of the hero's tale
Medusa has always been portrayed as a monster, the head to cut off so that the hero can exist. But her story does not start there. In the myth, she was a priestess who was assaulted, then punished for it: the victim became the villain
That narrative feels strangely familiar. Blame shifts, responsibility fades, and the story gets rewritten. With this sculpt, I wanted to give her back a part of that story, beyond the image of the creature
This is a rough sculpt rather than a finished piece: a quick study focused on form and expression, where the intention mattered more than the polish
