The Dusk

In this personal project, I created The Dusk, a sci-fi environment freely inspired by the work of Steven Cormann, modeling the tower and the spaceship and compositing the final image in three days

The Dusk is a tribute to Steven Cormann, whose work I admire. I freely took inspiration from one of his images, trying to capture its mood and composition while building everything myself. Steven also saw the finished project and gave it his approval, which meant a lot to me

The image was also inspired by Tatooine in Star Wars and its two suns. The tower, stacked with saucer-shaped platforms, rises against a blazing pink and orange sky, while a small spaceship crosses the light. I designed the spaceship with marine animals in mind, such as whales and turtles

The goal was to build a full environment quickly. I spent about one day on each stage: modeling the building, modeling the spaceship, then the compositing. I prepared mood and reference boards for the building and the spaceship, and shared more breakdowns of the process on ArtStation
