Futuristic Concept Car
- Year
- 2020
In this personal project, I modeled a sci-fi concept car in Maya in about 20 hours, then spent around five more hours on shading and look development before finishing the image in Nuke
The design mixes flowing, organic bodywork with an exposed mechanical structure. Seen from above, the glossy red body wraps around a central cockpit, while the open rear reveals the black frame and struts underneath, a contrast the top view shows clearly
Most of the time went into the modeling: keeping the curved surfaces smooth and continuous while fitting them around the internal structure. For the materials, I used Substance 3D Painter and Substance 3D Designer to create the red paint, the dark structural parts and the metallic details, then Photoshop and Nuke for the final image
It was a short, focused exercise in hard surface modeling, and a way to see how far I could push a design within a tight time budget
