Dodge Viper
- Year
- 2021
In this personal project, I modeled, textured and composited a Dodge Viper, aiming to match the real car as closely as possible from photographic references, in my first ACES color-managed workflow
I made this project in my spare time. The goal was simple and demanding: recreate a real Dodge Viper accurately, using photos as reference for its proportions, surfaces and details, so that the CG car could stand next to the real one
I modeled the car in Maya, then created its materials with Substance 3D Painter and Substance 3D Designer, from the paint to the smaller details. I handled the compositing in Nuke, with Photoshop for the final touches. The final image places the car on a bridge at sunset, with warm, hazy light catching its bodywork
It was also my first project using ACES through OCIO for color management, a good way to learn the color workflow used in VFX production, from lighting and rendering through to compositing
