At Creep Studios, I built or finished four of the six CG environments for a Honda Prelude commercial, working procedurally in Houdini Solaris with USD and Karma

I joined the production for a short period over Christmas, as one of only three CG artists on the project and on an extremely short deadline. On the environments I handled, I covered everything from the procedural setup to shading, lighting and rendering

The procedural approach was essential. With so few artists and so little time, each environment had to be built as a flexible Houdini setup that could be adjusted quickly rather than rebuilt. The work was centered on Houdini, Solaris, USD and Karma, with Maya, ZBrush, SpeedTree and Substance 3D Painter supporting modeling, sculpting, vegetation and texturing

One of the landscapes combined mountainous forms with the contours of a fingerprint, an interesting challenge that meant balancing natural terrain with the campaign's visual concept

It was a short but intense project, and a good example of how procedural workflows let a small team deliver on a tight schedule
